Kenneth R. Vogelsong Sr (1942 - 2010) SHERWOOD - Kenneth R. Vogelsong Sr., 68 years, of Sherwood, died at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Facility, Defiance.
Kenneth was born May 7, 1942 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Charles Walter and Marguerite Ophelia (Mawhorr) Vogelsong. He was a 1960 graduate of Fairview High School. Ken married Connie Vance on June 24, 1961 and the marriage ended in 1972. He then married Sandra S. Banks on February 24, 1973 in Antwerp, Ohio and she survives. Ken began his working career as an inspector for Johns Manville Corp. in Defiance. He became a millwright and worked for General Motors Powertrain for 45 years, retiring in June 2006. He was a UAW Union Representative, serving two terms for six years. Ken had attended the House of Prayer in Montpelier, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his family. They were always first and foremost on his mind.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra of Sherwood; son Kenneth (Jamie) Vogelsong Jr. of Sherwood; daughters, Pam (Edward) Carnahan of Sherwood, Beverly (John) Fifer of Defiance, Carolyn (Jeff) Arps of Okolona and Kendra (Jeff) Rucker of Sherwood; Ten grandchildren Eddie (Hillary) Carnahan, Jr., Alicia McKinley, Jessica Hillman, John Fifer III, Cole and Rhett Arps, Nevada and Liberty Vogelsong, Austin and Alexis Rucker; four brothers, Ralph Vogelsong of Napoleon, Harold (Barbara) Vogelsong of Defiance, Bill (Liz) Vogelsong of Cecil and Howard (Juanita) Vogelsong of Defiance; one sister Edna Beardsley of Sherwood and many nieces and nephews. His parents, son, Kim, two granddaughters, Brandy Jo Carnahan and Kristina Fifer, a great-grandson, Derrik McKinley, two sisters, Barbara and Patricia Vogelsong all preceded him in death.

Arthur Y. Art Teegardin (1940 - 2010)
SHERWOOD - Arthur Y. Art Teegardin, 69 years, of Sherwood, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 in his residence with his family at his side while under the care of Community Health Professionals Hospice.
Art was born December 1, 1940 in Steuben County, Indiana, the son of Derryll R. and Mildred R. (Piper) Teegardin. Art served his country in the United States Army. He married Ruth A. Eck on October 6, 1961 in Bryson City, North Carolina, and that marriage ended in divorce after 17 years. He then married Lois F. Burkhart on October 3, 2003 and she survives. Art had been a truck driver for Farmers Ag Service in Butler, Indiana. He then moved to Ohio and worked for the village of Sherwood, retiring in 2003. He was also the owner of Art Enterprises and Auto Care. Art was a member of the Butler American Legion Post 202, the Butler Eagles Aerie 2733 and the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233 and a social member of the Sherwood VFW Post 5665.
Surviving is his wife, Lois of Sherwood, Children, Laurie Coburn of Butler, Indiana, Loretta (Mark) Mock of Ney, Ohio, Jim J. Teegardin of Ney, Ohio, Clayton A. (Michelle) Williams of Defiance and Denny L. Repp of Findlay, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Ruth A. Teegardin; one brother, William L. (Cathy) Teegardin of South Carolina; three sisters, Mary Hartman of Coldwater, Michigan, Betty Hoover of Bryan and Edith Webster of Edgerton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Russell A. Teegardin, brother, Derryll A. Archie Teegardin and two sisters, Marjorie Teegardin and Helen Marie Phillips.

SHERWOOD - Debra Joyce Duke, age 57, of Sherwood, passed away peacefully at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan.
Deb was born April 29, 1953 in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Henry and Ruth (Avery) Beeman. She married Larry F. Duke, Sr., on May 1, 1971 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and he survives. Deb loved to crochet and was a computer geek. Her vise in life was to play bingo. She would assist anyone who would need help and was a great mom and grandma to many.
Surviving is her husband, Larry of Sherwood; one son, Larry (Brandi) Duke, Jr., of Waterloo, Indiana; two daughters, Kelly (Tim) Grandey of Hicksville and Shelly Eriksen of Waterloo, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; Mother-in-law, Mary Duke of Sherwood; four brothers Henry Beeman of Bryan, Bradley (Anna) Beeman of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Robert Belford of Superior, Wisconsin and Claude Thompson of Seattle, Washington; four sisters, Alvina Webster of Bryan, Brenda Belford of Bryan, Roberta McDaniel of Bryan and Kathy Ottinger of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Mary Kathryn Katy Mohley, 96 years, of Athens, Michigan, and a former longtime resident of Sherwood, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Birch Adult Foster Care Hospice Suite, Leonidas, Michigan.
Katy was born on May 26, 1914 in Ney, Ohio, the daughter of Guy E. and Marie R. (Strusaker) Yeagley. She was a 1931 graduate of Ney High School and a 1935 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She was a member of the Alpha Chapter of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Katy married Elwood E. Mohley on October 22, 1937 in the Ney United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2009. Katy worked alongside of her husband Elwood at the Bee Hive Grocery in Sherwood until he sold the business to Gerald Wirth in 1972. She was a devout member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, and served on numerous committees including the building, pastor search as well as being a lay leader. She also served as both a local and district officer of the United Methodist Women. Katy had been a Past President of the Sherwood PTA and actively supported the Music Boosters. She was a charter member of a Sherwood ladies bridge club that began in 1938.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Elwood, one daughter, Barbara Linn Mohley, two brothers, William F. Yeagley and Robert P. Yeagley, her twin brother. Katy is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Mohley Leach of Athens, Michigan and Nancy Mohley Agler of Oak Forest, Illinois; three grandchildren, Troy W. (Roxana) Agler of Midlothian, IL, Todd A. Leach of Baltimore, MD., and Tanya L. Leach of New York City; one great-granddaughter, Ariana B. Agler.

George Clayton Miller (1925 - 2010)SHERWOOD - George Clayton Miller, 84, of Sherwood, Ohio, died at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, in the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center where he was a resident.
Mr. Miller was an employee of Zeller Corporation, Defiance, and served the UAW union for more than 30 years which gave him great pride while serving his peers. He served as a councilman and then was the longtime mayor of the village of Sherwood. His passion in life was always to lend a helping hand and he will be greatly missed.
George Clayton Miller was born November 21, 1925, in Van Wert County, the son of Russell E. and Esther B. (Moser) Miller. He married Deloris E. Ankney on March 6, 1927, in Defiance County and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2008.
He is survived by three sons, James (Diane) Miller of Jasper, Ga., and Robert (Bobbie) Miller and Richard (Debbie) Miller, both of Sherwood, Ohio; six grandchildren, Dan (Leslie) Miller, Steve (Dawn) Miller, Rob (Dani) Miller, Jason (Tonja) Miller, Misty (Jim) Slater and Kari (Greg) Kolb; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Phil Miller of Mark Center; a sister, Phyllis Ballanger of Hicksville; and a very special friend, Ethel Murphy.
Visitation for George Clayton Miller will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Mary Ellen Keegan (1909 - 2010)
SHERWOOD - Mary Ellen Keegan, 101, Sherwood, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Hillside Country Living, rural Bryan.
Mary was born on February 7, 1909, in Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Lenora (Huntley) Rhoades. She married Leo B. Keegan, of Sherwood, on September 12, 1929, in Napoleon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1968. Mary was a graduate of Sherwood-Delaware High School. She was a homemaker and mother. Mary was a member of the Sherwood Church of Christ until its dissolution and then became a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church in 1977. Mary joined the Women's Relief Corps in 1936, and was a member for 25 years, serving as president for four years. She was also a member of the Sherwood Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 25 years, serving as worthy matron in 1962. She was also active in the Sherwood Community Club for over 30 years, serving 15 years as its president.
Mary is survived by her son, Rex (Bridget) Keegan of Crowland, England; a daughter-in law, Sandra Mastin of Sherwood; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; sons, Larry D. and Jerry L. Keegan of Sherwood; a daughter, Sue Z. Thornton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandson, James C. Thornton of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughter, Nicole L. Thornton of Fort Wayne; brothers, Arthur, Roscoe, William, Carl and Richard Rhoades; and sisters, Lelah Rhoades, Ethel Crane, Grace Frain and Eva Flory.

SHERWOOD - Carol "Randi" Y. Goller, 45, Sherwood, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident.
Randi was born November 14, 1964, in Bryan, the daughter of Thomas F. and Lelah Kathryn "Kay" (Beatty) Jackson. She married Gary (Goat) L. Goller on October 4, 2003, in Sherwood. As a homemaker, Randi enjoyed her dogs, drawing art, landscaping and being a Nana to Luke M. Zartman.
Surviving are her husband, Goat; mother, Kay Jackson; daughter, Dena K. Hall; stepchildren, Brandon L. Goller, Lucinda M. McDaniel, Joshua R. Goller, April N. Ankney and Dustin J. Goller; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Cynthia I. Jackson and Cheryl E. DeLaCruz. She is also survived by three nieces and one nephew.
Her father preceded her in death.
Memorial services for Randi will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Hicksville Mennonite Church with Rev. John Cattell officiating. SHERWOOD - Howard E. Curtis, 90, Sherwood, Ohio, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, Ohio.
He was born July 19, 1919, in Stryker, Ohio, the son of John and Gertrude (Coy) Curtis. In 1940, he married June Traxler, who survives. He worked in the service/maintenance department at GM Powertrain, Defiance, and was the veterans' service commissioner in Defiance County. He was a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II, and a member of Sherwood VFW Post 5665 and the UAW Local 211 Board.
Surviving are his wife, June Curtis, Sherwood; three sons, Randy Curtis of Defiance, Thomas (Mick) Curtis of Antwerp, Ohio, and David (Deanne) Curtis, Sherwood; a daughter, Janis Herder, state of Florida; a brother, Tom (Betty) Curtis, Detroit, Mich.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother and four sisters.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, with military services by Sherwood VFW Post 5665. There is no visitation. Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, is handling the arrangements.

E. Allene Schubert (1928 - 2010)
SHERWOOD - E. Allene Schubert, 81, of Sherwood, and a winter resident of Eustis, Florida, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, in Florida Hospital-Waterman, Tavares, Florida.
Allene was born August 10, 1928, in Churubusco, Indiana, the daughter of Howard and Pauline (Shreve) Osmon. She was a 1946 graduate of Defiance High School. Allene married Alvin C. Schubert on November 7, 1953, in Defiance, Ohio. Allene began her working career at the Zeller Corporation. She had also worked for Syncro STM and retired from a love of providing child care. She was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church and the Mission Society there. She was a charter member and den mother for Sherwood Cub Scout Pack 139. While in Florida, Allene attended the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora where she served on various committees.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin C. of Sherwood; daughter, Kathleen (Ronald) Cline of Mark Center, Ohio; two sons, Eugene "Gene" (Barbara) Schubert of Ney, Ohio, and Fred (Cathie) of Sherwood; daughter-in-law, Fran Schubert of Broomfield, Colorado; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Dorothy) Osmon of Defiance.
Her parents and one son, Paul Michael Schubert, preceded her in death.

Howard (PeeWee) Wolfrum (1935-2009)
SHERWOOD - Howard (PeeWee) Wolfrum, 74, of Sherwood, Ohio died on Friday November 27, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital Hicksville, Ohio.
He was born on February 20, 1935 in Defiance County, Ohio the son of Ervin and Olive (Stuckey) Wolfrum.
He was a 1953 graduate of Mark Center High School.
On November 25, 1956 in was united in marriage with Barbara Agler.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1957 1959 playing baseball on the traveling team for Ft. Sam Houston.
He was a faithful and active member of Mark Center United Methodist Church.
He was a lifetime farmer and recently restored and showed his 1952 Farmall M; he was an active member of Fountain City Squares square dance club; a dedicated St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan; and enjoyed time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; a son Rolland (Gina) Hicksville, OH; two daughters Colleen Welker Marysville, OH and Kim (Mike) Martin Green Springs, OH; (6) grandsons: Trevor, Ethan, Brandon, Joshua, Justin, and Jared; two brothers: Robert (Barbara) VanWert, OH and Eugene (Imogene) Hicksville, OH; a sister: Virginia (Max) Haver Sherwood, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Gregory.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home Hicksville, Ohio with Rev. Jim Spears officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 8:00 at the funeral home and after 9:00 on Tuesday.
Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery Hicksville with military honors accorded by Sherwood VFW Post 5665.

SHERWOOD - Adelaide Bernice Fisher Eatwell, 92 years, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, where she had been a resident since May 2007.
Adelaide was born on May 22, 1917 in Roland, Iowa, the daughter of Peter O. and Lizzie (Lein) Durby. She was a 1935 graduate of Nevada High School in Nevada, Iowa. She married Arlo Fisher on May 20, 1935 and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1972. She then married Lawrence John Eatwell on January 29, 1984, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2007. Adelaide was a supply coordinator for Dana Weatherhead for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
Surviving are her children, Harlan (Paula) Fisher of Lago Vista,Texas, Arlo (Connie) Fisher of Shelby, North Carolina, Kevin (Sara) Fisher of King Mountain, North Carolina, Bradley Fisher of Nevada, Iowa, Lyle (Rose Marie) Fisher of Wilmington, North Carolina, Brenda ( John) English of Bryan and Nancy (James) Speiser of Defiance. 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Myers of Nevada, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Arlo Fisher and Lawrence Eatwell, son Spencer Fisher, one grandchild, one brother, Wallace Durby and one sister, Lorraine Mynatt.

Joseph M. Jacob (1959 - 2009)
Joseph M. Jacob, 49, of Defiance and formerly of Greenwood, S.C. and Sherwood, Oh. passed away at 6:33 P:M , Monday, August 24th, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Defiance, on December 13, 1959, he was the son of the late Francis and Dolores (Wonderly) Jacob who survives him of Sherwood.
On July 19, 2002, he married Rebecca (Felger) Jacob and she survives.
He worked as a machinist at Eaton Hydraulics in Greenwood, S.C.since 2004. Hehad worked at Dietrich Industries in Hicksville for over 25 years. He was a member of the Bryan Eagles and a 1978 graduate of Fairview High School. Joe was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Ohio State. He was also an avid cook.
Besides his wife and mother, surviving are Daughters: Erin (Jared) Grime of Defiance, Laura (David) Culver of Bryan, Audrey English of Greenwood, S.C., Larissa English of Greenwood S.C., Sana English of Defiance. Sons: Shawn English of Massachusetts, Eric Jacob of Fayette, Oh., Nathaniel English of Defiance, Sisters: Michele (Jack) Speiser of Defiance, Patricia (James) Guisinger of Demotte, In., Jill (Robert) Brown of Hicksville, Brothers: John (Margaret) Jacob of Defiance, David Jacob of Cecil, , James (Christine) Jacob of Sherwood, Michael (Tonya) Jacob of Coshocton, Oh.
He is survived by 7 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father Francis Jacob, a son Randall Jacob and a brother Robert Jacob.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Isidore's at Delaware Bend at 11:00 A:M on Friday, August 28th, with Father Robert Kill officiating.
