New Central Local Superintendent

On Tuesday the Central Local Board of Education announced that David E. Bagley, who has been the superintendent of Antwerp Schools, will begin his duties at Central Local as superintendent Aug. 1 on a two-year contract. He will be paid $98,000 for the first year of the 12 month contract.

Mr. Bagley is a 1975 graduate of Bowling Green State University and the University of Dayton in 1979. He began teaching in Van Wert City Schools in 1975, and became elementary principal in Antwerp Local Schools in 1981, Antwerp High School principal in 1985 and superintendent in Antwerp from 1987 to the present. Mr. Bagley, 52, has 30 years in education and could retire and collect both his retirement benefits and salary in his new job. He said yesterday he had not decided whether or not he would do so. Part of his attraction to the Central Local School district was the board's consideration of a school construction project, he said. In addition to teaching, he is active in community activities.
