The Friends of the Sherwood
Library have published a 2009 calendar featuring 14 historical photos of
homes in and around Sherwood. The houses in 10 of the photos are still in
existence and locations are given in the descriptions.
The photos include the highly
ornate 1881 Charles Baker farmhouse complete with the Baker family and dog
posing in the front yard. The house is located north of Sherwood and
today is the home of Ron and Jo Luderman. Another photo shows the village
residence of John M. Johnson c. 1928 with Johnson standing on the front
walk. "Johnny" Johnson moved from his Mud Creek farm to this home in his
later years. He was the last living Civil War Veteran in Sherwood when he
died in 1932 at the age of 86.
The calendars are available at
the Sherwood Library and the Village Food Emporium for a $5 donation.
Limited numbers of the previously published Sherwood Scrapbooks, Volume I,
II & III and the 4 disk DVD set of Sherwood Memories are also available at
the Sherwood Library.
