Fairview 5th and 6th Grade Football Association
The Fairview 5th and 6th grade football equipment upon
inspection by the coaches raised some safety issues at the start of the season.
The coaches decided to help combat the issues this year and in the future to
organize an association of parents to insure our kids can enjoy playing football
safely. The Fairview 5th and 6th Grade Football Association was formed by the
parents with elected volunteers as officers. Elected this year:
President Brian Ramey
Vice President Mike Schnipke
Secretary/Treasure Mike Tobin
Head Coaches
Black Team Tim Mosier
Gold Team Jeff Hug
The new association has set many objectives for this
year, the main priority had to be new equipment to keep the kids safe and this
would take money. The association purchased new helmets and jersey this year,
then did the only thing they could for the funds, first the fees to play this
year were set to$50.00, then we turned to the community with great response
finally we started doing fun raisers for the money. The kids did a car wash at
the high school on 10 September, if you have been out to the flag football field
on Saturday morning you will have noticed our kids selling drinks and snacks to
the parents.
On October 1, we will be hosting a Pancake breakfast at the
High School cafeteria. The association also contracted to host the concessions
in the grand stands at the Gordon Creek festival at the Hicksville Fair Grounds.
We hope that the 5th and 6th graders will be able to make this an annual
function for future classes to raise money. The kids and association are on
track to raise the $11000.00 needed to pay the accrued cost of equipment and
league expenses. If you are interested in helping, out or donating to the
league, please contact the league at >fairviewblackngold@yahoo.com<
The Fairview 5th and 6th Grade league also has set up a weekly meeting
after practice on each Thursday. The Indian/Warrior team names were retired this
year and into the future this leagues are a Fairview Team, Black and Gold. This
was done due to a growing rivalry between the two teams on and off the fields in
past few years. The parents also agreed to serve a banquet at the end of the
season for the kids who played football this year.
Our games are in Defiance at the Middle School on Saturday. Please come
out and support the kids. If you are a football fan, you cannot beat these games
for true football entertainment.
