Around Sherwood

DeVault's Mini-Mart

We reported in the last newsletter that DeVaults would be moving out to the Bend in May and now that is not the case. DeVaults Mini-Mart can now be found back downtown Sherwood in the old Wirth's store. New owners of the building, Steve and Ted's Tool Shed, have divided the building up to accommodate 3 businesses, Steve and Ted's Tool Shed, opening sometime in the future, DeVaults Mini-Mart, now open, and a new laundry mat for Sherwood. Future plans for the building are to add 4 apartments up stairs. Be sure and stop in DeVault's and welcome them back downtown.

Del's Restaurant

Del' has again shaved their hours of operation. You will now find the restaurant closed after 2pm everyday except Fridays. Pat Ankney, restaurant manager, has told us this was necessary due to lack of business in the evenings. I do hope this works out for Del's, I would hate to think of losing another restaurant in the area.

Central Local Schools

Central local schools bond issue was again defeated by voters on May 2nd. A 3.94-mill, 28-year bond issue that would have raise $5,750,000, representing the local share of the estimated $19 million building project.

Last November, voters rejected by a small margin a tax issue for the building proposal. According to www.13abc.com election results as of 11:30 Wednesday, the vote stood at 981 for the bond issue and 1160 were against. Not sure if the schools will attempt another vote or not, e-mail requests for comments from Mr. Bagley were not returned.
