Sherwood Spring Fling held the first part of May was a huge success with about 30 sales and garage sales were held. I bet we had better than 400 people in town Thursday, Friday everybody got wet, and Saturday, Dale Bennett, with the Friends of the Sherwood Library said it was good also. Moats Parks also had much going on Saturday. The FV ball Association held a Port-a-pit chicken dinner fund raiser, complete with sides, for the FV summer baseball and softball leagues. Not sure how many dinners were served but I know there were 500 to 600 people thru-out the park that day. Can't wait till next year, I am sure it will be bigger yet, Way to go Sherwood. Sherwood Homecoming will be held June 17th, I will have more information on Sherwood Ohio.com when I receive it on the Sherwood Homecoming. Should be another great time.

Summer Ball:
Fairview Summer Baseball is under way. Moats Park ball fields are full every night and Saturdays all day, some games are also being played on Sunday. Starting this week the late games will begin so if you like to watch the ball games under the lights, grab a chair and come on down to Moats Park in Sherwood and enjoy a game or two.
Sherwood Village Income Tax:
Sherwood is one of the few municipalities in the area that does not have an income tax. Village officials said money coming into the village from local taxes and the state has been declining over the years. With a budget of 1.2 million dollars projected for 2004, Village council is in the process of implementing a 1% income tax on residents within the city limits to help make ends meet. This sounds easy enough for some but others are voicing their displeasures with a another tax, stay up to date at the Sherwood News link at Sherwood Ohio.com. Sounds like this subject could be heated before all is said and done. Talk about it at the Sherwood Discussion Boards.
Bend Bridge project:
The Bend Road bridge replacement has been pushed back to late summer or early fall. This project started in June 2003 and has been dealt many set backs due to the weather. Many of you know what the original bridge, built more than 100 years ago, was like. Winding road before and after the bridge, now access to the bridge will be a straight line from the RR tracks to US 24, the road bed was brought up 8 to 10 feet to keep it from flooding out and washing the road away. Seems like this would happen every year. The dirt was brought in from a 3 acre pond they dug up on Rolland road, about a mile west of the bridge. Next news letter I will get some photos of this Pond, this thing is huge.
They are now beginning to put in the decking and pour the concrete for the top. So maybe before summer is done we will have this road back and our fishing area back.
