Stopped out to check the progress on the new all weather track that was constructed over the summer, looking good. Pavement was put down 2 weeks ago for the track and the grass is growing in the football field. Thanks to all who donated and the Fairview Athletic Boosters for making The Field of Dreams come true.

Looks like Sherwood Village income tax is a reality. As of July 21st 2004, any one living within the city limits will have to pay a 1% city tax on income. The Regional Income Tax Agency or R.I.T.A. has been hired along with a Village Administrator, (Joan Raker), to oversee this process.
Salaries, wages, bonuses and incentive payments (Any Income) earned by an individual whether directly or through an agent and whether in cash or in property for services rendered during the tax period. But as you know there are exceptions to all rules.
For more information on the city tax, rules and regulations, do I, don't I, can be found at there website at www.ritaohio.com. Click on municipalities, and find Sherwood. These pages have all the information you will need, and phone numbers on who to contact with problems. Can't remember another web address, you will find links to there site at Sherwood Ohio .com.

Village Council got an ear full in their July meeting with some long time Village residents speaking their peace. Vine Street resident Marcie Lively brought recent photographs of her home and flooding problems there. "I want to thank the fire department for getting there when they did," she said. "Here's some pictures of the basement, water across the road, the fire department pumping water out of the basement into the drain. The drain across the street is blocked."
Lively said this isn't the first time her basement has flooded. "A year ago we spent $13,000 out of our pocket (after flooding in the basement)," she said. "This year another $2,000. All I'm asking is to fix that drain. I like living in Sherwood. I love my house, but I can't afford this. I'm making a request. Please fix that drain across the street." Council said they would look into the matter.
Loretta Wells voiced her opinion to council about opening burning by a neighbor on the south end of town. "He's burning a little bit of everything," she said. Fire Chief Steve Fitzwater said the state only allows certain types of burning, and junk is not one of them. He suggested she call the fire department the next time it happens. The neighbor himself retaliated by parking his Bronco in front of his house and writing "Mind your own F*#%'in business" on the vehicle. Took Police Cheif Chuck Fitzwater a couple of days to tone down the tempers on the south side of town. Anyways, for more info on The State of Ohio burning laws, you can check them out at http://www.epa.state.oh.us/pic/facts/openburn.html or More on Sherwood Council July Meeting at Sherwood News .

Did you hear about the alligator? Not in Sherwood, but in Defiance in the Maumee River. This alligator was 3 1/2 feet long and was first spotted around Holgate Ave. in Defiance and reported by a city resident to Defiance police. Boating and recreation are quite heavy this time of year in the Maumee so Deputies wasted no time in finding this gator. Deputies and local residents searched for a day and came up empty, a couple of possible sightings. The next day they finally located the gator in the same area as reported the day before at around 10:30pm and shot him with a high powered rifle. Sheriff Deputies figure that the gator was someone's pet that got to big. I bet they didn't flush this one.
